“Venus and Moon.” 2019

Celestial awe and a 29,500 year old muse inspired this digital print. Each shot of the moon was taken with a 800mm lens during the Super Blood Wolf Lunar eclipse. And the Venus of Willendorf was photographed in her home gallery in Vienna. To me, she is as mystic as our night sky and a natural model for this layered composition representing life affirming cycle of woman.

Venus of Willendorf, 2014

During my 2014 visit to see the Venus of Willendorf, The Natural History Museum of Vienna was remodeling her gallery. So here she stood in a glass case with her own museum body guard keeping her safe until her new digs were ready.

New Year’s Eve 2018

Happy to bring in the 2019 New Year, visiting Venus of Willendorf’s new space.

Inside her gallery, lights are low but she is spotlit. A true rock star in my eyes!

Archiologist, Marija Gimbutas, uses this Venus and many other’s that followed as proof in support of her life’s work and thesis — that matriarchal, egalitarian, non-violent societies existed for millennia along the banks of the Danube River.
